Captain D’s launches lobster menu for limited time - SeafoodSource

Despite higher lobster prices over the past two years, Captain D's is the latest restaurant chain to feature the shellfish on limited-time menus.

Earlier this summer, Red Lobster launched a variety of lobster and shrimp dishes for its Summerfest promotion.

Now Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.-based Captain D's, which operates more than 530 restaurants, has brought back its limited-time Lobster Feast menu as of 30 July.

The dishes comprising the menu – made with North Atlantic lobster – include: Lobster Bites, Lobster Scampi, Lobster Bisque, and North Atlantic Lobster Rolls.

While Jason Henderson, vice president of product innovation for Captain D's, declined to say where the restaurant chain sources its lobster, he told SeafoodSource that it is the "number-one primary ingredient – even when blended with other seafood. We have an outstanding purchasing team that gets us some of the best pricing in the world for our seafood (including lobster)."

The lobster dishes are also offered at an affordable price, according to Bob Kraut, chief marketing officer at Captain D's. For example, the restaurant chain is offering two lobster rolls for USD 3.69 (EUR 3.16).

"Customers continuously ask us when we are bringing lobster back to our restaurants," Kraut said.

Meanwhile, Captain D's Lobster Bites entree includes six pieces of North Atlantic Lobster Bites, served with Batter Dipped Fish and three Butterfly Shrimp. It is served with two sides and hush puppies.

The Lobster Scampi features North Atlantic lobster served in a creamy garlic butter sauce over pasta, with a choice of side and breadstick. The new creamy lobster bisque is served in two sizes.
