There's a new spot to fish on Nanticoke Creek in Broome County - WBNG-TV

MAINE (WBNG) -- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation opened a new fishing access site on Nanticoke Creek near the Village of Maine.

The new site is at State Route 26 at the end of Shadowbrook Drive, just south of the village.

The DEC said the new fishing site will receive annual trout stocking. They said Nanticoke Creek is stocked with 2,900 brown trout every year. Smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, rock bass, fallfish and white sucker also populate the pond, according to the DEC.

Up to four vehicles can be parked at the new site. The parking spot gives access to a 0.3-mile public fishing rights easement that is next to the site.

State officials said the new site supports the State Adventure NY Initiative, which aims to connect people with nature.
