PetFest to benefit Lubbock Aquarium project - LubbockOnline.com

The Lubbock Aquarium's 4th annual PetFest and Sea Lion Show featuring activities for pets, their owners and kids of all ages starts Friday at Adventure Park.

Adventure Park is hosting the event, with 100% of proceeds benefitting the Lubbock Aquarium Discovery Trail, which is the first phase of the proposed aquarium project.

"We are so far from the ocean and water, so having an aquarium in our area allows our community to have a better understanding about ocean life and just better education", said Kai Evans, president of Lubbock Aquarium.  "And the Discovery Trail drill is the first phase and that really allows people to engage with the aquarium in an outdoor setting."

The three-day event includes a Pet Pageant, pet chipping, pet adoptions, educational crafts along with the feature attraction - a sea lion show.

"It is a pet friendly event. We'll have vendors that have pet things available, whether it's for training or outfits," she said. "It's a fun event for the family to bring their pet and also support a local organization."

Registration for the Pet Pageant begins at 9:30am on Saturday and is $25 per animal. Categories includes cats, dogs and farm/exotic animals.

Evans requested interested community members show up 30 minutes early to register their pets for the Pet Pageant.

The Sea Lion show is offered at various times on Saturday and Sunday. The Pet Fest and Sea Lion show includes a free Towers Attraction.

"We're excited to bring another ocean feature to Lubbock and just excited for people to bring their families, grandkids, kiddos - you know even college students just want to come and check it out," she said.

PetFest 2022 will kick off with a VIP Dinner and Sea Lion show from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday.

Other activities including go-kart rides, miniature golf, rock climbing, bumper boats, and more may be purchased through Adventure Park.

The weekend-long event takes place at Adventure Park located at 5110 29th Drive. Tickets for the event can be purchased at https://fb.me/e/3zFMIwT8E.
