A mother from Michigan thought of a creative way to celebrate her son's birthday during quarantine.

Becky Spagnuolo transformed her house into an aquarium. The mother had to do this after her 2-year-old's birthday party was canceled during the coronavirus pandemic, reported Good Morning America.

The family was planning to travel from their home in Michigan to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago to celebrate her son Clark. Spagnuolo's son has always loved looking at the ocean.

"Some of his first words were 'fish' and 'Dory' [from 'Finding Nemo']," Spagnuolo said.

The mother-of-two said the family was "bummed but completely understanding" when their trip was canceled due to COVID-19.

She immediately wanted to make her son's day special, so she brainstormed creative ideas to change her living room into a replica of an aquarium.

"We really needed something to make everyone smile," she said.

So that's when Becky and her husband, Nick, started creating ideas for their son's birthday. For several weeks, the family made crafts while reading ocean-themed books. Becky also researched the aquarium's website to see which animals they had inside.

Although the mother is very artistic, she explained that she had "never done something on this level before."

On the morning of her son's birthday, she got up at 4:00 a.m. to decorate with the help of her 4-year-old son, Mikey. They taped blue plastic tablecloths to the windows to replicate the ocean. The mother and son also made homemade jellyfish and hung them from the ceiling.

To create the scene, the mother also created tickets to get into the aquarium while also broadcasting a live stream from the Shedd Aquarium.

She said seeing her sons enjoying themselves "was a big sigh of relief. There's been a lot of anxiety, a lot of fear."
