Bucs WR Mike Evans: Man Of The People - Pewter Report

Mike Evans has been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL since being drafted by the Bucs in 2014. With nine straight seasons of 1,000 plus receiving yards to start his career, Evans became the first wideout in NFL history to accomplish the feat. He's averaged nine touchdowns a season and holds the Bucs' single-season record with 14 TDs, which he set in 2021. Currently sitting at 30th all-time in the NFL with 81 touchdowns, a similar output this year will launch him to the 14th most in league history.

Evan's production has been outstanding for the team, and as enters the last year of his contract there are plenty of examples on the field for why the Bucs organization should make him one of the longest-tenured players in franchise history. But his work off the field and in the community is just another reason why Evans is so revered in the Tampa Bay area.

The Mike Evans Family Foundation was started in 2017 by Evans and his wife Ashli. Their main objective is to empower youth, encourage education and to take a stand against domestic violence. Evans has done that through several outreach programs including providing scholarships to students who might not otherwise be able to afford the financial demands of college.

In addition to his scholarship program, the Mike Evans Family Foundation runs several other programs to give back, both in his hometown of Galveston, Texas and in Tampa. His annual, "Catch For Kids" initiative donates one essential item for every yard he gains during the season, and 13 items for every touchdown scored.  The items are donated to local organizations like the Children's Home Network, Galveston County Teen parenting Coalition and local Tampa schools, helping children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned.

Mike Evans Family Foundation Gives Back To The Community Year-Round

Evans also gives back around the holidays with several programs including his annual Halloween Spooktacular, which surprises kids with dinner, costumes and a tour of the Florida Aquarium. He runs Thanksgiving meal drives, and his annual Catch for Christmas charity bowling event helps raise funds to give kids a Christmas moment they will never forget.

In that past that has included scholarships giveaways, shopping sprees, and providing holiday gifts to local kids and families. In 2021, Evans was named the Bucs NFLPA Community MVP in Week 16 for his Catch for Christmas initiative.

Though Evans doesn't do it for the recognition, he was recently honored as a 2023 Community Hero by the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation at their Heroes Ball in Tampa for everything he does for the community.

Evans charitable efforts continue this year in the Tampa area with his fourth annual golf outing on June 9 and his second annual gala on June 10. Pricing details on how to attend and support the Mike Evans Family Foundation can be found below.
