The Council Grove Marina will host a kayak poker run next month on Council Grove Reservoir.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. July 17, with launch at 10 a.m. Registration is $35 per person by July 5 to guarantee an event T-shirt in your size and includes the shirt, lunch and participation on the self-guided course along the lake, with fun challenges at stops along the way.

Lunch will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a raffle at noon and a grand prize giveaway at 1 p.m. of a half-day pontoon rental from the marina.

Participants must bring their own kayak and gear, and lifejackets are required by law for each participant. A limited number of kayaks rentals are available and can be reserved by calling the marina at 620-767-5924.

In the event of inclement weather, any cancellation/rescheduling updates will be posted on the Council Grove Marina Facebook page.

Glen Elder to host drum tourney

Glen Elder Reservoir is set to host its first-ever freshwater drum fishing tournament during the Waconda Lakefest next month.

Registration is $40 per two-person team, with no size or creel limits and a weigh-in at 1 p.m. The payout for the tournament is 100 percent, with a big fish jackpot. A drum fry may be held after the tournament, as well.

For more information and to pre-register, contact Scott at 545-3345.
