Betta Fish, also known as Siamese Fighting Fish, are one of the most popular freshwater fish for pets. You can find them in almost every pet store. One of the reasons that they're so popular is that they come in a variety of colors, patterns, and tail variations.

Though with so many Betta Fish types out there, how can you figure out which ones are considered to be the most beautiful?

1). Veil Tail

While this may be one of the most common types of Betta Fish that you'll find in pet stores, this Betta Fish is not common in its beauty.

The Veil Tail Betta Fish has long and flowing anal and dorsal fins. This gives the Betta the appearance of swimming with a pretty veil behind it.

2). Rosetail

The Rosetail Betta Fish has exaggerated branching of the rays on their fins and tail, giving its tail the appearance of petals. In this case, rose petals in particular.

This type of Betta Fish is usually comes in multicolored patterns, often giving its tail an ombre effect.

When it swims in its tank, it looks like a flower floating through the water.

3). Delta Tail

Another common but beautiful type of Betta Fish is the Delta Tail Betta Fish.

It has a tail that is similar in shape to the Greek letter "d," thus the name.

The tail and fins flare when it swims. It looks like it is surrounded by colorful fans as it glides through its environment.

4). Crown Tail

This type of Betta Fish has one of the most intense appearances out of the ten on our list.

The Crown Tail Betta Fish has little to no webbing between the extended rays of its fins and tail. This makes it look like it is covered in spikes.

It has a cool, edgy look — the punk rocker of Betta Fish.

5). Half Moon

The Half Moon Betta Fish is another popular type of Betta Fish.

The tail is a calmed down version of the Rosetail Betta Fish, and has a similar shape to the Delta Tail Betta Fish. It also has a ruffled look to its tail, but less like petals and more like cloth.

The tail has a curve and fullness to it that is reminiscent to a half-moon.

6). Combtail

The Combtail Betta Fish is one of the more interesting Betta Fish on our list.

It is a type of Betta Fish that cannot be found in the wild and can only be produced by selective breeding.

The Combtail shares some aesthetic features with the Crown Tail Betta Fish. It has a spiky appearance but with more webbing between the long rays.

7). Double Tail

Without doubt, one of the most unique types of Betta Fish on our list is the Double Tail Betta Fish.

Unlike other Betta Fish, the Double Tail Betta Fish is breed with a special genetic trait that causes its tail to grow in two lobes instead of one, creating two tails.

 

The enlarged double tails cause this Betta Fish to have a shorter body than normal, giving it a cute appearance.

8). Half Sun

The award for having the most dramatic tail on our list goes to the Half Sun Betta Fish.

This type of Betta Fish has tail rays that extend past the webbing of the caudal fin. It looks like a mix between a Combtail Betta Fish and a CrownTail Betta Fish.

Having one in your fish tank looks like you took a miniature sun and put it in water. Especially if you get a yellow or orange one.

9). Spade Tail

As the name suggests, this type of Betta Fish has a pointed tail in the shape of a spade.

Out of all the Bettas on our list, this is one of the easiest to recognize in pet stores.

While the Spade Tail Betta Fish might not get you much luck at cards, its smooth shape is pleasing to the eye and looks good in any home aquarium.

10). Round Tail

Probably one of the rarest types of Betta Fish on our list, you might have to go a speciality pet shop or find a breeder to buy a Round Tail Betta Fish.

The Round Tail Betta Fish has a rounded tail that has a similar shape to the Delta Tail Betta Fish, but it has no straight edges near the ends to give it that same 'd' shape. It is a flat circular tail , like a coin.

It comes in lots of colors and patterns, making a great aesthetic addition to any home fishtank.
