USD 506 approves purchase, replacement of fuel tanks | News | parsonssun.com - Parsons Sun

ALTAMONT — In its regular monthly meeting Monday, the Labette County USD 506 Board of Education accepted the bid by Hoidale of Wichita to purchase and replace the district's existing underground fuel tanks.

The bid includes a 6,000 gallon single wall tank, 8 feet wide by 16 feet long, and an 8,000 gallon single wall tank, 10 feet by 14 feet, in addition to emergency vents, ID tags, tank gauges, meters with filter kits and a nozzle.

The bid is set out at $36,692.16 for the tanks and accessories, $8,940.20 for miscellaneous construction materials and $9,853 for installation, for a total of $55,485.36, plus taxes.

The school district already has a containment area.

The tanks will be purchased through the capital outlay fund.

— Hired Beverly Harper, part-time custodian for Mound Valley Grade School; Brad Smith, driver's education instructor for Labette County High School; and Kyle Zwahlen, driver's education instructor for LCHS.

— Approved the transfer of Heather Garner from sixth grade teacher at Meadow View to seventh and eighth grade teacher.

— Approved the following substitute employees: Elizabeth Cochran, Elizabeth Hersh, Mallorie Keltz and Andrea Williamson as substitute teachers, and Kristina Byrd, substitute cook.

— Performed a first reading of Kansas Association of School Board policy additions and revisions.

— Approved property, vehicle and casualty insurance with Wood Dulohery.

— Heard that the next regular meeting of the board will be March 14 at the Curran Administrative Center in Altamont.
