Sign-up for January Food $en$e - Rome Sentinel

Registration for the January Food $en$e program — open to everyone regardless of income — will be held in Rome, Lee, Camden, Holland Patent, and Oneida.

Food $en$e is a discount food program provided by the Central New York Food Bank. Everyone is welcome to participate. There are no income guidelines. The $20.50 per unit cost is payable at the time of registration by cash or food stamps. Multiple units can be purchased. There are also extras which can be purchased with or without the basic unit.

• Those participating in the Town of Lee program can place orders Friday, Dec. 16, from 1 to 3 p.m.; and Saturday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake Delta Fire Department, 8508 Elmer Hill Road.

Orders may be picked up on Friday, Jan. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information, call 315-271-5548 or 315-358-4150.

• Rome registration will be held at Redeemer Church, 129 N. Washington St., across from City Hall, Friday, Dec. 16, between 1 and 3 p.m. Parking in the City Hall's lot will be available. Rome participants may also sign up Saturday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lake Delta Fire Department.

• In Camden, sign-ups will be held Dec. 16. at Abundant Life Church. Contact Stephenie at 315-795-9378 for more information.

• The Holland Patent program is hosted by Foothills Rural Community Ministry, Presbyterian Church (across from the park just off Route 365). Registration will be held Friday, Dec. 16, from noon to 2 p.m. The food may be picked up between noon and 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27. • Karing Kitchen, 116 West Grove St., Oneida, is accepting orders by appointment only — call 315-280-0869.

The January package includes Italian sausage, chicken thighs, Italian meatballs, ground turkey, pizza poppers (3 Cheese), mozzarella cheese, penne chicken soup, cheese ravioli, spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes, and two fresh produce items.

January specials

Specials, which may be purchased in addition to the package or separately, are:

Stuffed pork chops, 2 lbs. for $8.50: stuffed with apples and cranberries.

Chicken wings, 5 lbs for $9.50: ready for the fryer or oven and are in a re-sealable bag.  

American cheese, 5 lbs. for $14: not individually wrapped.

Onion rings, 2.5 lbs. for $9.25: ready to cook and can be used in the oven or fryer.  

Lobster bites, 15 oz. $5.25: can be deep-fried or baked in the oven.  

Pantry Box, 10 items for $13: Whole Grain Corn Flakes (18 oz.), pancake mix (32 oz.), pancake syrup (24 oz.), mac and cheese (7.25 oz.), tuna in water (5 oz.), spaghetti (1 lb.), peanut butter (18 oz.), strawberry spread (19 oz.), corn (15 oz.) and pears (15 oz.).
