Shark eats another shark in horrific accident at aquarium

A shark has been filmed eating another shark at an aquarium in South Korea.

Shark attacks out at sea are scary enough, but the chances of actually witnessing one inside an aquarium are very low.

This is because the so-called 'man eaters' aren't usually about that cannibalism life.

But when it comes to defending their territory, things can indeed get ugly.

If you have a strong stomach, watch below to see a shark midway through devouring another shark inside a South Korea aquarium:

Dubbed as a 'turf war', the eight-year-old female sand tiger shark was caught on camera swallowing up a much smaller shark at the Coex Aquarium in Seoul, South Korea, back in 2016.

But don't let the age fool you, as this specific shark was 2.2m (7.2ft) long, preying on a five-year-old male banded houndshark, which measured in at 1.2m (3.9ft).

"Sharks have their own territory. However, sometimes when they bump against each other, they bite out of astonishment," Coex Aquarium PR manager Oh Tae-youp said.

"I think the shark swallowed the whole body, because they usually eat it all when they bite the head part."

However, the aquarium later reported that the shark tail was expected to stay in its mouth for about four to five days because it wouldn't be able to digest the creature all in one go.

Commenting on the harrowing clip, one viewer said: "Those poor fish are having a turf war on a very small amount of territory. The aquarium shouldn't overcrowd the pool."

"No s**t it was a turf war. There's not enough turf' for all those sharks," a second agreed.

"Turf war, much like inner city thugs," another quipped.

While sharks are thought to be the 'kings of the ocean', this definitely isn't the case as a group of fishermen once captured the moment a blacknose shark got devoured by a huge sea creature.

Captain John Brossard was out sailing with his crew off the coast of Goodland, Florida when they managed to hook a blacknose shark.

Brossard later shared some details about the jaw-dropping moment, saying: "Basically we were shark fishing when all of a sudden two or three goliath groupers started hanging out under the boat waiting for our catch to come in.

"We were just thinking 'wow, unbelievable! Something is going to eat a shark and it's bigger than a shark.'

"We were very surprised. Basically it ate the shark, and took down and broke the line. We were using a 50-pound test line and that was not enough."
