Winter Wonderland, zoo holiday lights return to Van Saun Park - NorthJersey.com

Bergen County's Winter Wonderland is making its return to Van Saun County Park in Paramus this month, bringing back its open-air ice skating, ice bumper cars, games, food and all sorts of other holiday festivities.

The event, which will start on Nov. 24 and end on Jan. 1, will also feature a heated hospitality tent, food trucks, an indoor/outdoor beer and wine garden, live holiday music and rides at the park's carousel. It will be the eighth time the county has hosted the event. The ice rink will be open for skating from 3 to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The event will have its official kickoff event on Nov. 24, a tree lighting on Dec. 6 at 6 p.m., a menorah lighting on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. and a kinara lighting on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.

Winter Wonderland is partnering with the New Jersey Devils to host "Learn to Play Hockey" to teach children the fundamentals of ice hockey. The sessions will be run by USA Hockey-certified coaches and New Jersey Devils alumni.

Let it GLOW! A Holiday Lantern Spectacular will also return this year, starting on Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. at the nearby Bergen County Zoo. The event, held in partnership with the zoo and Tianyu Arts & Culture Inc., will feature traditional Chinese lanterns with a "modern twist," including dozens of hand-painted structures depicting animals and holiday scenery, said a press release by the county.

The lantern event will also have train rides and fire pits available, with s'mores kits that can be purchased in the zoo's gift shop.  

Hours of operation for Winter Wonderland will be Fridays from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hours will vary on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, and it will be closed on Christmas. Tickets can be purchased at bergencountywinterwonderland.com.

All-access tickets, which include admission, skating and one carousel ticket, for Winter Wonderland will be $20 per person and $10 for seniors, veterans and active military. General admission will be $10 per person and $5 for seniors, veterans and seniors. Children age 3 and under can attend for free. Additional skating sessions will also cost $10 per person, a carousel ticket is $2 and a train ticket is $2.

Let it Glow! will run Thursdays and Sundays from 4 to 8 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 4 to 9 p.m. until Jan 14. Tickets for Let it GLOW! are $18 for adults and $9 for children and can be purchased on Eventbrite.com or at the door of the zoo during the event.
