ZooWorld hosts annual ZooBoo Halloween event - WJHG-TV

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Kids got the opportunity to trick-or-treat with the wildest bunch around at Zoo World's annual Zoo Boo Halloween event this weekend.

The event kicked off Saturday and ran through Sunday. All the little witches and ghosts were out about for some daytime trick-or-treating and fun activities throughout the zoo.

Zoo World Director Kayte Hogan said this year's turnout was the biggest they've seen. Following the pandemic, she's excited to see families getting out and enjoying the holiday again.

"Everybody was really scared to come out last year, so we did Zoo Boo and we had a great turnout, but this year, people are really excited to be back out after Covid. We're still keeping it safe, there's still enough room in here to spread out. That's why we did the time tickets to help with the entry process, keep that spread out, and to keep our people spread out while they're in here. It's been so good to have people back this year," Hogan said.

"We just wanted to come out here and make some memories, you know trick-or-treating and seeing the new animals. Because we heard there were some new animals. You know new ones here, especially the kangaroos," Christina Fisher, a ZooBoo goer said.

Hogan said proceeds from this year's event will go towards funding for some internal projects such as new coolers for animal products, as well as upgrading zookeeper spaces. The money will also be used to fund a new South America area the zoo has planned for next year, which is said to feature new animals and exhibits.
