Working with animals is something that comes naturally to pet expert, Victor Robinson, owner of Purrfect Pets. Robinson and wife, Nilmi Robinson, own the longest-serving pet store in the Rockaways! In 2004, the Robinsons opened Purrfect Pets to share their passion for animals with the community. Over the last 16 years, the couple has witnessed a growing demand for pets and pet products on the peninsula. This demand generates a greater need for pet supplies, training, and grooming — all services that they are happy to provide to customers.

Purrfect Pets offers an array of services from plants, fish, animal food, and more. "When you visit our store you'll be welcomed by our exotic tropical plant selection. We have two floors dedicated to pets and supplies. Our pets include tropical fish, small animals, birds of all kinds, reptiles, and amphibians from all over the world. We also offer dog training classes by our certified master dog trainer," said Robinson.

For Robinson, Purrfect Pets is more than just a pet store. It is the execution of his childhood dreams. He recalls going to the 5-Towns pet store to learn more about fishes, bunnies, and other critters. Robinson states, "I have always loved animals and had a natural ability to communicate with them. So, I've always had the idea to open a pet store since I was young. Although, I planned on being a lawyer."

It's a good thing he stuck with his passion! 

Robinson is aware of the hard work and dedication needed to operate a small business. "You don't always profit, and sometimes you take two steps back and one step forward. However, because I love what I do, it gives me the strength to know that hard work and perseverance will teach me valuable life lessons."

As the only pet store on the peninsula, Purrfect Pets has gained a positive reputation in the community for its unique service. While many associate Purrfect Pets with its first location at 19-15 Mott Avenue; in late 2019, the Robinsons acquired a larger space with their move to 19-14 Mott Avenue. The new space allows the couple to keep up with rising customer demands.
