Renovations Resume at Roosterfish Restaurant in West Hollywood - WEHO TIMES West Hollywood News, Nightlife ... - WEHO TIMES

Work has resumed at the up-and-coming Roosterfish West Hollywood location, at 8948 Santa Monica Blvd. It has been quiet for several months at the new WeHo business that's taking over the former PUMP Lounge restaurant which stood on that corner for 10 years, and was co-owned reality TV star and animal activist Lisa Vanderpump.

However, this week, the new WeHo business sports a fresh coat of teal paint that we're all familiar with from the original location in Venice, at 1302 Abbot Kinney Blvd. They sealed up all their windows, but not before we got a sneak peek inside through a crack, revealing ongoing construction and other improvements in the indoor bar area.

In other Roosterfish news, TMZ reported earlier this week that although Vanderpump's original PUMP restaurant has moved on to green pastures, new new owners have confirmed that they are keeping olive trees, beloved by the star of Vanderpump Rules.

According to TMZ, Mario Vollera, who is one of the owners of Roosterfish West Hollywood, said that he and the other owners requested that the big olive trees remain when they checked out the space. The trees were a big part of the sale agreement, and Mario wanted them untouched because he said that they bring prosperity and good luck, aside from being beautiful and adding a lot to the space's ambiance.

According to their website, when Roosterfish first opened, it quickly established itself as a gay bar, welcoming patrons of similar sexual orientation. With this safe haven claimed, patrons could drink in peace without judgment from an archaic-minded society. With modern-day Roosterfish, its doors have reopened, welcoming all walks of life. As one of the original bars along Mr. Kinney's boulevard, it is part of a rare collective of original restaurants along Abbot Kinney, embracing the openness that makes Venice, CA as unique and special as it is! Roosterfish was one of the first progressive bars for the community, and the new owners have kept its namesake in respect to the history Roosterfish has undergone.

Lisa Vanderpump announced PUMP restaurant's closure on May 4th via a statement, responding to rumors and reports that the space had been listed for lease on LoopNet, the online marketplace for commercial property, which listed the 2,865 SF space as a storefront retail. The restaurant closed on July 2.

No opening date has been set for the grand opening of Roosterfish West Hollywood, but with the work underway, it's bound to open in the earlier part of this year.
